Content Writer Intern, Finance
Learn US capital markets from the filings themselves, and write for the people who prepare them.
About the role
This is a role for someone with a finance or accounting background who wants to learn US capital markets from the primary documents. You will write about SEC reporting: 10-K and 10-Q mechanics, ASC and ASU updates, Reg S-K and S-X, comment letter trends, IPO and S-1 readiness. You will go to the filing itself rather than to someone else's summary of it.
Everything you publish gets traced back to a source. Every number, every citation, every accounting reference. You will use AI tools as part of the workflow, and you will be expected to know where their output cannot be trusted. We would rather you were correct than quick.
The bar: Our readers are SEC reporting leads, controllers, and securities lawyers. They notice immediately when a writer has not read the filing. Everything we publish has to survive that.
What you will do
- Write blog posts, LinkedIn content, newsletters, and long-form guides on SEC reporting topics: 10-K and 10-Q mechanics, ASC and ASU updates, Reg S-K and S-X, comment letter trends, IPO and S-1 readiness
- Read primary sources directly. EDGAR filings, FASB updates, SEC comment letters, and staff guidance are the inputs, not secondhand summaries
- Turn filing data and peer benchmarking into content people can use, including company analysis pieces built on Fina output
- Support podcast and webinar production: research, show notes, clip copy, distribution
- Fact-check everything you write. Every number, citation, and accounting reference gets traced to a source
- Gain exposure to US GAAP and EDGAR, and learn the SEC reporting cycle in depth
What we are looking for
- Finance, accounting, or commerce background: BBA, BCom, CA Inter, or equivalent. Final-year students and recent graduates welcome
- You can read a financial statement and its footnotes without help
- You write clearly. Short sentences, no filler, no marketing language
- Published writing of any kind: newsletter, blog, college publication, Substack
- Working knowledge of AI tools and comfort using them as part of a writing workflow, including knowing where their output cannot be trusted
- You are curious about US capital markets specifically, and willing to learn the SEC reporting cycle in depth
- You care about being correct more than being fast
What adds a bonus
- You have already read a 10-K end to end, and can say what stood out
- CFA Level 1, CA Inter, or coursework in financial reporting and audit
- Familiarity with EDGAR full-text search, XBRL data, or peer benchmarking
- Comfort turning filing data into a simple chart or table without waiting on a designer
How to apply
Send your CV plus one writing sample. If you do not have a sample, write one for us: pick any recent 10-K or 10-Q from EDGAR and, in 400 words or less, explain one footnote or one accounting policy to a reader who understands finance but has not read that filing. Cite the filing.
